MBBS, MD, DM (Cardiology)
Dr. G. Gnanavelu is a highly respected senior interventional cardiologist practising in Chennai, with a career spanning more than 39 years in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary and structural heart disease. He completed his MBBS, MD (General Medicine) and DM (Cardiology) from the prestigious Madras Medical College, going on to hold academic and clinical positions at some of Tamil Nadu's leading government medical institutions.
Over the years, he has performed thousands of angioplasties and complex coronary interventions, including chronic total occlusion (CTO) recanalisation, rotablation for heavily calcified arteries, and transcatheter valve procedures such as TAVI. He is known among colleagues and patients alike for his calm, thorough explanations and his commitment to using the least invasive option appropriate for each patient.
Today, as Senior Interventional Cardiologist and mentor at Medway Heart Institute, he continues to combine hands-on procedural expertise with a teaching role — training the next generation of interventional cardiologists in advanced, imaging-guided techniques.
